Looking forward to a fun well planned visit to the twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo? African Travellers ltd plan the best tours and vacations all around Rwanda and East Africa. Our services are offered in both economy and mid-range tour packages where we accommodate your budget. We work to serve both our local and international tourists to the best of their interests. The lakes are located between Musanze District and the Ugandan boarder.
The two lakes are only 600 meters away from each other and interconnected in a way that one pours its water into the other thus named the twin lakes. The lakes are scenic and provide a very beautiful and photogenic serene view. They are surrounded by mountains and a very charming forest. The surrounding area is of farmed hills that overlook the lakes, here you can undertake nature walks and birdwatching. You can also go sightseeing by taking a boat trip along the dark blue waters of the twin lakes and enjoy a breath of fresh air. The lakes are also fishing grounds giving you an opportunity to go fishing and experience Rwanda’s traditional fishing methods such as using self-made canoes consisting of one piece of wood and the use of hooks and fish nets. You may also take a tour on the islands in these lakes and interact with the locals who are mainly farmers and get to learn of their culture and day to day lives.
An overstay and night stay around the lake is possible due to the presence of many guesthouses, lodges and restaurants, with great hospitality, around the lake. A visit to the lakes can be done at any time throughout the year.
