To the eastern side of Zimbabwe lies the popular highlands of Nyanga mountains. A great tourist attraction surrounded by large plantations, rivers, and hilly plateaus. There are plunging waterfalls, the Mutarazi falls are among the highest in Africa attracting many. This arduous topography is good for kayaking, mountain hiking and mountain biking are some of the audacious outdoor activities. The highland is also an attraction factor since it consists of rainforest, marshes, swamps, heath, bamboo thicket, and open woodland these enable the mountain forest to host various species of plants, birds, and animals. You will have the best bird watching experience in Nyanga forests due to the inhabitation by over 300 bird species which produce chirp sound intriguing the bird paradise. The Botanical Vumba Gardens extend on the mountain, a casino, hotels, and golf courses are some of the best views sites close to the Highlands.
To the north of the highlands, lies Nyanga National Park. The Park has well-drained streams and rivers which extend to the dense woodland gorges. One can drive to the lush forest a get a glimpse of the scenic Pungwe falls and gorge. Additional attractions include the Nyangombe falls on the western, Nyangwe and Chawomera forts characterized with fine pit structures, the Trout Hatchery which provides an outstanding view on the river parks, the Nyamuziwa falls on the highland sites, and a drive to the Rhodes Museum where accommodation is offered at the Rhodes Hotel.
