Bordering Rwanda’s eastern neighbor Tanzania, Akagera National Park could scarcely be more different in mood from the breezy cultivated hills that characterize much of Rwanda. Dominated scenically by the labyrinth of swamps and lakes that follow the meandering course of the Akagera River, the most remote source of the Nile, this is an archetypal African savannah landscape of tangled acacia woodland interspersed with open grassland.
Akagera is, above all, a big game country! home to herds of elephants, Zebra, Giraffe, Lions, White Rhinos, and buffalo emerge from the woodland to drink at the lakes, while lucky visitors might stumble across a leopard, a spotted hyena.

Your trek starts in the cultivated foothills of the Virunga offering stirring views in all directions. When it enters the national park, trekkers will be immersed in the mysterious intimacy of the rainforest, alive with the colorful bird calls, chattering golden monkeys, littered with fresh spoor of the mountains’ elusive buffalo and elephant. Through gaps in the canopy, the magnificent peaks are glimpsed, among the highest in Africa yet easily accessible, beckon an ascent.

Weaving through overhanging vines, moss-covered hagenia trees, and giant lobelias that thrive in the tropical climate, our experienced trackers, who have spent their entire lives in or close to this forest, soon bring us up close with one of the Gorilla Families.

Upon sighting the gorillas, you will stay with them for a magical hour as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting; raising their young. Coming face to face with a giant silverback must truly be one of the greatest wildlife experiences on earth!

We offer both economy and mid-range packages at affordable rates. We also help you acquire high-quality accommodation, serving your full interests. We thrive on making your vacation one of the best. Musanze is a town located on the foothills of the Virunga Massif in the northern province of Rwanda.

The town is the closest to the Volcanoes National Park offering perfect views of the Virunga volcanoes. We offer you guides who will lead you in exploring the town. You can go caving in the Musanze caves which are over a million years old, formed during the creation of the volcanoes. The caves are about 45km long and are filled with total darkness, when exploring you are assigned a torch. There are over 45 other caves that you can visit in the area.

Taking a visit to the twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo can also be exciting. To make it even more exciting you can reach there by bike from Musanze town. At the lakes, you may engage in fun activities such as camping, canoeing, taking village walks, and birding. You may also hire boats that will take you to different islands for marvelous photos. You may also engage in golden monkey tracking in volcanoes national park and encounter the most beautiful primates found in Africa. They live on the lower slopes of the volcanoes thus easier to find. You may also go on a city tour on foot which may take about two hours, visit the markets and have a cultural tour in Nkotsi village. You may be interested in visiting the restaurants in the town, La Pailotte being one of the most popular due to its pizzas, or having a taste of the street food.
