1 Day Mount Bisoke Hiking Rwanda:
The dormant volcano Mount Bisoke has two beautiful crater lakes, Bisoke crater lake at the summit and the other, Lake Ngezi, 11km from the summit. There are two trails used during the hike one to the summit and the other shorter one to Lake Ngezi, each trail being a one-day hike. The trail may give you the opportunity to come across mountain gorillas and troops of golden monkeys which you are allowed to watch from a distance.

Itinerary:

our driver will pick you up very early in the morning from either your hotel or Kigali International Airport. You will then head for the Musanze province in the Volcanoes National Park. Briefing and hiking registration is at the Kinigi Park offices at 7:00 AM. The Mount Bisoke hiking starting point is located away from the briefing point and requires driving on rocky and muddy terrain. On reaching the starting point, you will then proceed to hike the mountain along with the mountain guides and porters. The hike takes between 3 to 5 hours. After reaching the peak, check out the beautiful views and take as many photos as possible. You will come back to the start point where you will meet our guide. Have lunch and head back to Kigali or your hotel.

The hike starts at the park’s headquarters Kinigi and then you are driven to the starting point with your assigned ranger. Though the hike is not difficult it still is tough requiring some extra effort from you. During the hike you will cross different vegetation, at first the bamboo forests then the Hagenia Hypericum forest, and finally near the summit the Senecio Lobelia bush. At the summit, you are rewarded with the breathtaking view of the crater lake and the surrounding park’s vegetation. The amount of time taken on the summit depends on the weather, on a sunny day you might have enough time to have a picnic on the summit. The other attractive fact of the summit is that it does not gather snow but is filled with fog.

The descent from the mountain is easy when compared to the climb. When you are back to the starting point you will find your company guide waiting for you.
